Whatever Works

Today one of my friends came up to me to tell me that this semester she was not happy dealing with other people’s drama, slacking in school or not getting enough sleep and that she was going to try doing what I do – not talk to people. Perhaps this sounds absurd and sociopathic but I immediately took her comment as a compliment and told her to try it.

Everyone deals with pressure and stress differently, have different priorities and personality traits. The one time I took my Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test in school resulted in me getting an X – being “confused” between intra and inter personal. The criticism that comes with that is inevitable and insignificant. My priorities don’t include certain things that others deem essential. I am comfortable judging for myself when and how it is necessary to use my time.

My advice to the rest of you? Whatever works.
Don’t feel burdened to give up your time, it’s the most precious thing you have - but don’t live without love, friendship or ambition.
